The 47th season explores meaningful relationships and asks us how far we would go for the people and things we hold dear. We’re excited to share these powerful, exciting, and moving lineup of plays and musicals with our audiences.
We know that this year will be quite unlike any other. Throughout the pandemic, we have kept close watch on the guidance from the CDC, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the City of Boston to keep our artists and audiences safe. A young couple falls in—and out—of love in this intimate musical told from two chronological points of view: Cathy tells her story backwards while Jamie tells his story forward.
January 13 – February 6, 2022
Based on the real-life adventures of Lyric-favorite Maurice Parent, this humorous world-premiere tells the story of an actor who turns to teaching in the Boston Public Schools for a steady paycheck, and learns what it means to show up for our kids—and ourselves.
February 25 – March 27, 2022
In the wake of Shakespeare’s death, his company of actors unites to preserve the plays they performed, narrowly rescuing the iconic playwright from obscurity. A love letter to Shakespeare, the power of art, and the stage.
April 15 – May 22, 2022
