Growing Voices is currently under construction and we are presently unable to accept submissions until further notice. We appreciate your interest, but we are not accepting digital or print submissions of new plays at this time. Thank you!
The Lyric Stage Company of Boston develops new plays through our program Growing Voices. Our goal is simple: to develop plays through our program, as well as encourage playwrights, actors, and directors to mature at our theatre, developing a body of work that speaks to our community. From readings, workshops, and production, to distribution and licensing, our program’s mission is to be present with the writer through every step of the process.
In 2006, Growing Voices boasted the world premiere of Jack Neary’s romp, Kong’s Night Out. Since, it has seen two productions; at the New Century Theatre in Northampton, Massachusetts and in Michigan at the Meadow Brook Theatre. In 2008, Growing Voices hosted a reading of Carla Cooks the War by Laura Maria Censabella, directed by Melia Bensussen. With talent practically bursting from the seams in Boston and beyond, we are excited to start the next chapter of our program.
Growing Voices is our extended arm to the burgeoning new play culture in Boston, and the bridge for plays in our program to find continued life in other theatres around the country.
